VOLUNTEER

There are two distinct opportunities for volunteers to get involved with Steppingstone - by helping with our fundraising events, or by working directly with the Scholars on their homework in the Mentoring program.

For more information please contact Allison Parks at 215-508-5150 or at aparks@steppingstonescholars.org.

Event Volunteering

The success of Steppingstone programs is inseparably linked to the results of our fundraising efforts. Benefit events alone raise nearly 30% of our revenue; a figure which depends heavily on our volunteers. more information about our events

An Event Volunteer’s specific responsibility depends on the nature of the event. Throughout the year Steppingstone hosts everything from a basketball tournament to a black tie dinner and dance. In most cases, a committee is formed of volunteers whose primary focus is to generate attendance. When an auction is involved committee members help obtain donated items. We also rely on volunteers to help with the logistics and preparation.

Mentoring

Mentoring is a program offered through the Support Services department at Steppingstone to all Scholars who have graduated from the Scholars Program. Students in grades 6 through 12 who wish to attend may spend two hours every Saturday working on their homework with the help of an adult. Volunteers can be paired with the same Scholar every week or make themselves available to any Scholar needing help on specific subjects.
